David Learner

David Learner's involvement with Hitchhiker's goes back to early 1980.

He played a number of roles including Marvin in the Theatr Clwyd touring version directed by Jonathan Petherbridge that opened in North Wales in January 1980. He appeared as Marvin in the Rainbow Theatre production in the summer of 1980, and in the autumn filmed inside the famous suit for the BBC Television series that was broadcast in early 1981. Late 1981 saw a revival of the Theatr Clwyd production in a tour that included Scotland and England, with David's last appearance at Plymouth in June 1982.

Outside of Hitchhiker's he played many theatre roles, but is also remembered for Pickle, the wood elf, in three series of the ITV children's television series Knightmare in the early 1990s. At LL3 we will reunite him with Michael Cule, another Knightmare stalwart, for some live action role playing shenanigans.

David branched out into journalism and retail, for a while running a shop on Mill Road in Cambridge opposite where Douglas Adams was born. His current role is as the proprietor of Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Ely.

David will only be with us on Saturday 10th June.
